PHP Math
ADVERTISEMENTS
PHP provided its own default math features to perform mathematical operations.
These features only perform within the range of the integer and float types values.
Example-1
<?php
echo abs(-4.2); // 4.2 (double/float)
echo abs(5); // 5 (integer)
echo abs(-5); // 5 (integer)
?>
Output
4.2
5
5
Example-2
<?php
echo ceil(4.3); // 5
echo ceil(9.999); // 10
echo ceil(-3.14); // -3
?>
Output
5
10
-3
Example-3
<?php
echo rand() . "\n";
echo rand() . "\n";
echo rand(5, 15);
?>
Example-4
<?php
echo round(3.4); // 3
echo round(3.5); // 4
echo round(3.6); // 4
echo round(3.6, 0); // 4
echo round(1.95583, 2); // 1.96
echo round(1241757, -3); // 1242000
echo round(5.045, 2); // 5.05
echo round(5.055, 2); // 5.06
?>
